Yes, I was one among the many to point a finger at Bryan and Mike for 'ruining' the Avatar finale for us, zutarians. But now that some days have passed I can understand that it's not Bryke's fault at all.
It's not their fault that: 1. The finale was postponed. 2. The book ended up coming out before the Avatar finale.
And more importantly, it's not their fault that they didn't think Zutara was a possibility before airing the show. Shocking, I know. But can you blame them for wanting Kataang and Maiko to happen? Of course not!
And before you say that they were deliberately cruel to us, zutarians, I'll tell you that no, they were actually really, really nice to us. In the first and second season, Zuko and Katara's relationship was almost non-existent. That could have continued in season three, leaving us with almost no interaction whatsoever. But they didn't! They gave us many Zutara moments to fuel fanfiction/fanart for years to come!
Iroh's words in The Book, are what made it for me. Because if Iroh is wondering if Zuko and Katara would be a good match, then that's a nod to us that we're not as crazy as we appear, don't you think?
Now... if they can keep that 'no epilogue' thing in the series too... *crosses fingers*
I completely agree! (and your picture is very cute, btw). What did Iroh say exactly, if you don't mind me asking? I know it was Zutara-esque, but that's about it.

Thank you for posting this. I have been getting rather annoyed by allot people bashing Mike and Bryan. It is their story and they can chose to take it in any path they want. We should be thanking them for what they have created and not what we felt was unfair. No matter how much we wanted it to end otherwise. I'm still giddy about the friendship and the Ninja-Zutara, that will last me for a life time.

Indeed. Hug, ninja, friendship.. everything they did give us is awesome (and I'll add my hopes that they don't do an epilogue on the show). While I'd been hoping that they would remain neutral on all ships, at least they've thrown us a few bones... and there's always fanart and fanfic.

I like the point you made with this- for a pairing that was most likely never meant to be canon, Bryan and Mike gave Zutarians a LOT.
I actually never wanted it to be canon- it muffles the creativity of the fandom.
I have to admit, I agree--Bryke managed to give us Zutara shippers a lot given that they never thought it would happen.

My only accomplishment as an artist is I got fanart into Newtype USA's April 2006 issue. But hey, that's works for me.
